EDITH FROST - website

I’m not usually dumb enough to assume that songwriters mean the “I” in their songs to be themselves, much less that they depict themselves accurately or (in this case) live whatever sort of lifestyle I *imagine* for them based on a combination of lyrics, musical style and probably CD packaging as well. Nevertheless, I had Edith Frost down as someone without quite enough time for worldly concerns. Instead, she’s a bit of a geek, with three webradio channels, two mailing lists, some fake email addresses as decoys for spammers, and a story to tell about hating her old free ISP. It’s sweet.

Best, I think, is that she has a section for pictures, including pictures of her performing, pictures she’s TAKEN, and pictures of her as a little kid. I guess the conception of minor celebrity on the web suits many, many indie songwriters better than the uneasy mishmash they’ve got now, and it might only be a lack of geekiness that keeps them from rising to it.
